Today at Hillcrest Country Club, the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Chevron hosted 115 media members, tournament sponsors, media partners and Albertsons Executives for the official 2021 Media Day hosted by Coca-Cola. The event included tournament and charity updates from Albertsons Intermountain Division President, John Colgrove and Jeff Sanders Entertainment (JSE) CEO, Jeff Sanders as well as a Q&A with NBC Golf Commentator, Jim “Bones” Mackay.

As part of the exclusive interview for those in attendance, Mackay discussed the PGA TOUR level of golf at the Albertsons Boise Open. “Back in my day, when I started in 1990, you wouldn’t have expected the younger players to play as well as they do and be able to make birdies down the stretch to give themselves chances to win tournaments. That’s what the Korn Ferry Tour is all about, it’s preparing these guys to be amazing players,” said Mackay. “They go straight to the PGA TOUR and they can be very effective. It’s really an extension of the PGA TOUR and it’s incredibly deep.”

So far this PGA TOUR season, 26 of the 39 tournaments have been won by players who came through Boise on the Korn Ferry Tour in recent years including Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Bryson DeChambeau, Viktor Hovland, Jason Kokrak, Max Homa, Sam Burns, Billy Horschel and Stewart Cink.

Albertsons Intermountain Division President, John Colgrove discussed the Albertsons Boise Open’s rich history of supporting charity, raising over $25 Million since 1990. He explained that once again a portion of the money raised for charity will come from the Mondelez Tickets Support Charity Program, where 100% of all ticket sales support local charities. Through the Mondelez Tickets for Charity program, all ticket purchasers will select one of 35 local charities that their ticket purchase will support.

“We are so proud of the impact this event has had on the Greater Boise Community since 1990 and this year will be bigger than ever,” said Colgrove. “We also can’t wait to welcome our fans back to the event in August. We know the city of Boise is ready to attend, have fun and embrace the event!”

Following John, Albertsons Boise Open Executive Director and JSE CEO, Jeff Sanders, spoke to the crowd about the new fan enhancements at the event this August 19-22.

“As the Executive Director of this great event for all 32 years, and I’ve never been more excited about the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Chevron as I am right now,” said Sanders. “Our top priority is to raise as much money as we can for charity, but a close second is making sure we have the best fan experience AND the best sponsorship and ticket value on the PGA TOUR! Thanks to Albertsons, Chevron and our long list of treasured sponsors, volunteers, Hillcrest staff and members, that is exactly what the team has planned for this year.”

New this year, the event will feature three nights of concerts after golf on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, August 19-21 at Hillcrest CC. Thursday night will feature reigning CMA and ACM “Group of the Year,” Old Dominion. On Friday night, legendary rock and roll band REO Speedwagon will take the stage with their hits “Can’t fight this feeling,” “Keep on Loving You,” “Take It On the Run” and more. On Saturday, acclaimed supergroup Sammy Hagar and The Circle will perform their career-spanning hits from Montrose, Van Halen, Sammy Hagar and The Waboritas and Led Zeppelin.

Saturday tickets for golf and the Sammy Hagar & The Circle concert are already sold out and Thursday and Friday tickets are expected to sell out in the next few weeks.

“For the first time ever at the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Chevron and in the history of the Korn Ferry Tour, we have sold out of tickets for Saturday’s third round, and thanks to our amazing fans, we did it in just a few weeks’ time,” said Sanders. “The response to our theme of golf by day and music by night, the Boise community has been tremendous and we expect to sell out Thursday and Friday tickets very soon.”

The concerts will be held at Hillcrest CC on the 18th fairway and will start immediately after golf concludes. Concert admission is included with the purchase of daily tickets and four-day passes - there will not be any additional charges or upgraded tickets needed to enjoy the concerts after golf on the night our fans purchase their daily ticket. The concerts are sponsored by Smithfield Foods on Thursday, Tyson Foods on Friday and Sanderson Farms on Saturday.

The Albertsons Boise Open presented by Chevron will be the first of three Korn Ferry Tour Finals events to feature 75 PGA TOUR players and the top 75 Korn Ferry Tour players as they compete to earn their PGA TOUR cards for the 2021-2022 PGA TOUR season. The tournament has hosted many of the best golfers in the world over the years on their way to PGA TOUR stardom including: Will Zalatoris, Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, Bubba Watson, Patrick Cantlay, Webb Simpson, Gary Woodland and many more.

In addition to the great golf and concert admission, all tickets will include admission to two on-course hospitality venues - the Albertsons Fan Pavilion on the 16th green featuring Michelob Ultra Beers For Birdies and Albertsons Signature Café and the Coors Light Fan Deck behind the 18th green.

Sanders also announced that Sunday’s Final Round will feature Junior Day sponsored by Pacific Office Automation. Junior Day will include a free tournament logo’d hat and lunch for the first 500 kids in attendance as well as free golf games and golf lessons for juniors of all skill levels.

Daily tickets are $25 for Thursday, Friday and Saturday (sold out) and just $10 for Sunday’s final round and Junior Day. Kids 15 and under get in free with a paid adult all week.

The tournament will be conducted within local health guidelines and PGA TOUR COVID-19 testing policies.
