This 6,825 yard par-71 layout was established in 1940 and designed by noted course architect A. Vernon Macan. Featuring a number of peaks and valleys, the average tee shot here is played from 2,800 feet above sea level, placing a premium on accuracy and course management. In 1964 the course played host to the LPGA Tour’s Idaho Centennial Ladies Open won by Mickey Wright.
Hillcrest has hosted the Albertsons Boise Open since the inaugural event in 1990 won by Ricky Smallridge. Russell Knox set the course record during the second round of the 2013 Boise Open posting a 59 that included two eagles and eight birdies. The 72-hole scoring record of 28-under par 256 is held by 2015 Boise Open champion Martin Piller. Players to have walked the fairways at Hillcrest include Rickie Fowler, Justin Thomas, Jason Day, Jimmy Walker and ‘The King’ Arnold Palmer.
