Albertsons Boise Open Announces Sponsor Invitations and Live Music After Golf

6/8/2015

Albertsons gives sponsor invitation to the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft & Nabisco to local Army veteran Corporal Chad Pfeifer and Cole Valley Christian Senior Graysen Huff, and will host live music after golf Thursday, Friday, & Saturday evenings

(June 8, 2015) – Local media representatives, Albertsons executives, sponsors, volunteers, and tournament organizers gathered today at Hillcrest Country Club for the 2015 Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft & Nabisco Media Day. Albertsons announced it will give sponsor invitations to the Albertsons Boise Open to Caldwell native and Army veteran Corporal Chad Pfeifer and Cole Valley Christian School phenom Graysen Huff.

Cpl. Pfeifer, who graduated from Vallivue High School, will make history at the Albertsons Boise Open in July as he will become the first ever amputee to participate in a Web.com Tour event. Cpl. Pfeifer, 33, lost his left leg above the knee in April of 2007 when a roadside bomb exploded while he was on patrol in Iraq. He learned the game while rehabbing in an Army hospital, and golf became a major part of his healing process. He quickly became a playing professional competing in Gateway Tour and eGolf Tour events. Nicknamed “Corporal Clutch” from his appearance on Golf Channel’s The Big Break, Cpl. Pfeifer was invited to play in last July’s American Century Championship at Lake Tahoe. He was in a field of 80 professional athletes and entertainers competing for $600,000 in prize money, and finished tied for fifth place. Cpl. Pfeifer will have the support of the local military community at Hillcrest, and expect some large roars when he makes his way through the 16th hole, where the Patriots’ Outpost hospitality area will be located.

Graysen Huff, a senior at Cole Valley Christian School in Boise, is the reigning Pacific Northwest Golf Association Junior Player of Year and Idaho Junior Player of the Year. He has competed in the Australian Amateur, British Boys Amateur, and the Junior PGA Championship, and plans to play in the U.S. Junior Amateur in late July. Huff, who will also have plenty of support from his teammates and the local community, has signed to play golf with collegiate golf power Auburn University starting this fall.

The tournament announced it will host Michelob Ultra Rockin’ the Fairway, a three-part live music series on-site at Hillcrest Country Club Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at the conclusion of golf action. Marcus Eaton, a Boise native, will perform at the conclusion of first round golf on Thursday, July 9th. The music will start when the final putt drops around 7 PM, with Happy Hour hosted by Hillcrest Country Club beginning at 5 PM. Local favorite Pilot Error will take the stage Friday evening, July 10th, which will follow the same schedule as Thursday. Saturday’s live music will feature Boise’s own David Andrews Band and will begin at 6 PM. All Albertsons Boise Open ticket holders are granted admission for the live music with their daily or weekly golf ticket. Daily tickets are $15 and weekly tickets purchased in advance are $25, or $35 at the gate. Tickets are available at www.AlbertsonsBoiseOpen.com.

The Albertsons Boise Open also announced the schedule of special events for the week. The Idaho Statesman Junior Clinic moves this year to Wednesday, July 8th at 5:00 PM, and as always is free for all junior golfers and their families. Family Day featuring games, mascots, face painting, snow cones, and reptile shows will take place on Saturday from 11 AM – 3 PM. The Free Bisquick Pancake Breakfast for all ticket holders will be Sunday beginning at 9 AM. The Patriots’ Outpost hospitality area, open to all active, retired, and reserve military and their families, will be open Thursday to Sunday beginning at 10 AM.

The Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft & Nabisco has given over $17 Million to hundreds of charities since the tournament began, which is an all-time record on the Web.com Tour in terms of total charitable contributions.
