Daly and Sadlowski to Battle it Out In Michelob Ultra Shootout, September 12th

8/22/2011

(BOISE, ID – August 22, 2011) – On Monday, September 12th the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft will bring back one of the most memorable features of the tournament over the years – the Battle of the Big Guns Michelob Ultra Shoot-Out. The two “big guns” that will duel it out for charity at Hillcrest Country Club are sure to draw a crowd: 5-time PGA TOUR Winner John Daly and World Long Drive Champion Jamie Sadlowski!

The 9-hole shootout will tee off at 3 PM on the #10 Tee at Hillcrest Country Club, with time for media interviews and a “warm-up clinic” on the driving range prior. The format of the shootout will be a skins contest, with Daly competing for the Boise State University Golf Programs and Sadlowski competing for The YMCA Activate Treasure Valley. Each “skin” – or hole – will be assigned a dollar value. The player with the lowest score on each hole is determined the winner of the “skin.” In the event of a tie on a hole, the dollar value of the previous hole is carried over and added to the next hole. At the end of the nine holes, the dollar amount accumulated by each player will go to their respective non-profits. Long Drive and Closest-to-the-Pin contests with an assigned dollar amount will also be of fan interest over the nine holes. Holes #10 (par-4), #13 (par-3), #15 (par-4), #17 (par-3) and #18 (par-4) will be the designated Closest-to-the-Pin holes. Holes #11 (par-4), #12 (par-4), #14 (par-4) and #16 (par-5) will be the Long Drive Holes. To win the Closest-to-the-Pin holes, the player’s tee shot must be on the putting surface and to win the Long Drive, the players drive must be in the fairway.

John Daly, a fan favorite, played in the inaugural Ben Hogan Boise Open presented by Albertsons in 1990, the first year of the Ben Hogan Tour, now the Nationwide Tour. He finished tied for 10th in Boise that year and joined the PGA TOUR the very next year. Daly reached golf superstardom status with his wins at the 1991 PGA Championship and the 1995 British Open. He was the 1991 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year and has ranked #1 on the PGA TOUR in Driving Distance 11 times.

Jamie Sadlowski was the back-to-back 2005 and 2006 REMAX World Junior Long Drive Champion, followed by the back-to-back 2008 and 2009 REMAX World Long Drive Champion. He currently holds the record for the longest drive in the finals of the REMAX World Long Drive competition at 418 yards. His longest drive in competition is 437 yards. Sadlowski plays to a +1.1 handicap and can hit a 3-iron 300 yards. His club head speed is 148 MPH (Tiger Woods’ is 120), and his ball speed is 213 MPH (Woods’ averages 175).

See PGA TOUR golf as the future stars of the PGA TOUR will return to Boise for the 22nd annual Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft Sept. 12-18, 2011. Tickets are on sale now at www.albertsonsboiseopen.com, and through the Hillshire Brands TICKETS Fore CHARITY program, one hundred percent of all ticket sales will go directly to local charities.
