Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft Distributes More Than $1 Million to Local Charities

2/2/2011

(BOISE, ID – February 2, 2011) – Mike Clawson, Albertsons president, Intermountain West Division, announced today the 2010 Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft generated more than $1 million for charity for the fourth straight year. In all, more than 100 non-profit organizations in the Treasure Valley will benefit from the event. The tournament, an annual event on the PGA TOUR’s Nationwide Tour, has now raised more than $11.8 million for charity in its 21-year history – that’s more money generated for charity than by any other Nationwide Tour event.

Albertsons and the tournament identified the event’s 2010 primary beneficiaries through an application process. As primary beneficiaries, the following organizations will each receive $25,000:
  • Boise Rescue Mission
  • Boise Urban Garden School (BUGS)
  • Children’s Home Society of Idaho
  • Family Advocates
  • Giraffe Laugh Early Learning Center
  • Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council
  • Girls on the Run – Treasure Valley
  • Salvation Army, Boise

In addition, each year Albertsons, its parent company SUPERVALU and the tournament provide local non-profit organizations the opportunity to sell tournament tickets and keep 100% of their sales revenue through the Hillshire Brands TICKETS Fore CHARITY™ program. This year, 100 organizations generated more than $655,000 in ticket sales. Those organizations also shared – based on their percentage of overall sales – in an additional Bonus Pool of $50,000 provided by Albertsons and Hillshire Brands.

Again this year, the tournament also provided $16,000 to the Idaho Lacrosse Association, $5,000 to the golf program at Boise State University and $5,000 to the First Tee Chapter of Idaho. First Tee’s mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.

The future stars of the PGA TOUR will return to Boise for the 22nd annual Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft September 12-18, 2011 at Hillcrest Country Club. Tickets are on sale now at www.albertsonsboiseopen.com, and again through the Hillshire Brands TICKETS Fore CHARITY program, 100% of all ticket sales will go directly to local charities. Non-profit organizations interested in taking part in the Hillshire Brands TICKETS Fore CHARITY program or in learning about additional tournament funding opportunities should visit www.albertsonsboiseopen.com/charity.
